Day 2: combat and some spells
I’ve added some enemies to fight, so now you can run around beating up blobs! Yay! Also there are two spells in the game, one which activates automatically like a D&D paladin’s smite if you have enough MP when melee attacking, and one which is ranged and you can cast at will. (The fire wave spell casts three parallel rays in the direction you cast it; there’s no indication of this on the map yet so I thought I’d tell you!)
HP are divided into stamina, which regenerates, and health, which doesn’t, encouraging hit and run tactics (but enemies have the same stats…) MP is also divided into mana and reserves in a similar fashion. If you use up all your reserves, you won’t be able to cast the fire wave spell!
I was planning to add spell customization today too, but I didn’t have time, so I’ll try to do that tomorrow instead, and leave out something else like music or tile graphics.
Still no luck getting the game to run on itch, but thanks to someone whose name I can’t remember on Discord, I was able to get it to not crash completely - it just displays an error saying the home page can’t be found! Once again, you can play the game at http://edkolis.com/spellslinger/play/ - enjoy!
